Sustainable shipping

We have a responsibility to the region and to future generations. Every ship in the Weisse Flotte fleet uses Shell GTL fuel, a readily biodegradable synthetic diesel made from natural gas instead of crude oil. It burns more cleanly than conventional diesel, produces no black smoke and reduces local pollutants such as nitrogen oxides and particulate matter. The engines also run more quietly and smoothly.

MS Neckarsonne is one of the world's largest solar catamarans. Its electric drive makes it exceptionally quiet on the Neckar, combining sightseeing with less noise for wildlife and local residents.

We want to reduce our carbon emissions further. We are also working towards giving passengers the option to offset emissions from their trip through recognised climate projects.
